Google announces Mapathon 2013 contest

Google Maps is constantly looking to make their maps comprehensive and as detailed as possible. What best way could one have other than having the consumers and users involved to build better maps. Google is also offering prizes for the top 1000 contestants

Google recently announced to have a Mapathon in feb 2013. One can simply register for Google’s Mapathon 2013 contest via a gmail/google account.

Mapathon 2013 — which starts on 12th February and culminates on 25th March 2013 is an India-wide mapping contest open to just about anybody who lives in India. One can you improve Maps by using a simple tool called Google Map Maker.

Prizes on offer include 10 Samsung Galaxy Note,
800 Android tablets.
40 Samsung Galaxy S II phones.
50 Flipkart gift coupons worth Rs. 5000.
The top 1000 contestants will get an free t-shirt too.
